Artist Statement

My capstone involves figure drawings with charcoal. The figures are defined and shaped
by combining line and volume through value and exploring flat, cartoon outline, flattening high
contrast, then soft, fading volume through value gradient. Their emotions are captured in the
positions of their poses.
